Guided by our strategic priorities, we invite excellent researchers to join the UFZ.In addition to our job advertisements, there are some instruments to join the UFZ at postdoctoral level or beyond. These are briefly described below. UFZ Funded Programs  UFZ Tenure Track Positions Tenure track positions are derived from the UFZ scientific strategy and its thematic priorities. These positions are advertised publicly. Depending on the position, academics are initially employed on a fixed term contract for up to six years with an interim and a final evaluation. Following a positive final evaluation, the employee will be offered a permanent position. Find more information and open positions at www.ufz.de/tenure Program contact:  ines.thronicker@ufz.de Helmholtz Funded Programs Helmholtz Investigator Groups The Helmholtz Investigator Groups program enables outstanding early career researchers to establish an independent research group at the UFZ and pursue a strategically aligned, high-impact research agenda within one of Europe’s leading research organizations. Eligible applicants are researchers two up to six years post-PhD who have gained at least six months of research experience outside Germany, acquired either during their PhD or postdoctoral phase. Funding by the Helmholtz Association will be granted for up to five years. Find more information here  Program contact:  hartwig.pohl@ufz.de Third-party Funded Programs  Emmy-Noether Program As part of the Global Minds Initiative, the German Research Foundation (DFG) set up the Emmy Noether program to enable outstanding early career researchers to establish independent junior research groups at the UFZ and pursue ambitious, internationally competitive research. Eligible applicants are researchers up to four years post-PhD who have gained their first postdoctoral experience outside Germany. Funding by the DFG will be granted for up to six years. Find more information about the program at the DFG Emmy Noether Website  Current calls: Methods in Artificial Intelligence  Program contact:  martina.kunz-pirrung@ufz.de German Federal Programs The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) regularly issues thematic calls for junior research groups. Funding is typically granted for up to five years. Applicants are expected to hold an excellent doctoral degree and demonstrate relevant postdoctoral experience. Specific subject-related requirements depend on the respective call. Eligible applicants are researchers who completed their doctoral studies two up to seven years ago and have demonstrated significant scientific independence and excellence. An ERC Starting Grant will be funded for up to five years.
