That’s why we’re thrilled to share the success of our collaboration with Seeed Studio and the integration of their sensors, including the SenseCAP S2120 Weather Station. Addressing the Challenges of Offshore Environments Offshore environments present unique challenges. Rapidly changing weather patterns can significantly impact the safety and scheduling of critical operations, especially in the burgeoning offshore wind power sector. Understanding these challenges, we sought a solution that would provide the high-quality, real-time data needed to fuel our advanced forecasting models, while serving the strategically located Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT). Strategic Hub: Both, the Brooklyn Army Terminal and the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal are vital assets in New York’s pursuit of offshore wind energy, driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and contributing to a sustainable future. BAT, along with the adjacent South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT), is central to New York City’s offshore wind strategy. It serves as a critical location for the staging, assembly, and maintenance of offshore wind turbine components. The SenseCAP S2120: A Game-Changer SEED’s Studio SenseCAP S2120 Weather Station has proven to be a game-changer. This robust and reliable station delivers precise measurements of critical weather metrics, including: Temperature Humidity Wind speed and direction UV index Rainfall intensity Barometric pressure The high-quality data from the SenseCAP S2120 is seamlessly integrated into our AI-powered platform. We combine this data with information from larger forecasting models, such as those from the US National Weather Service (NWS) and private providers, to create a comprehensive and highly accurate view of the weather. Enhanced Safety and Efficiency The results of this collaboration have been remarkable. By providing port operators and vessel companies with precise, real-time weather forecasts, we’re enabling them to: Schedule personnel transfers with greater confidence. Mitigate risks associated with extreme weather events. Optimize operations based on accurate, up-to-the-minute information. A Collaborative Success This project’s success is a testament to the power of collaboration. We are grateful for the support of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), who provided a valuable space for testing and showcasing this innovative technology. Together, we’ve achieved up to an 85% improvement in forecast accuracy, setting a new standard for safety and efficiency in the offshore wind industry. We are also grateful that the MassCEC DICES/CATALYST program helped us accelerate the development of our offshore line of products and services, advancing its technology to support the growing number of offshore applications.
