The sheep's remains were discovered at RSPB Saltholme, Stockton, in the early hours of Tuesday. Cleveland Police said someone had cut through a fence to gain access to the field where sheep were grazing and killed the animal by cutting its throat before cutting off its limbs and fleece. An RSPB spokesperson said: "This is a deeply shocking incident, and we are currently doing all we can to fully assist the police with their inquiries, as well as supporting the local grazier."
