“The Pitt” and “Hacks” have earned their keep this year for HBO Max. The drama and comedy series combined delivered some 40% of the Emmy Award nominations haul that HBO and its streaming sibling HBO Max delivered in a field that includes a number of surprise contenders and shakeups in key categories.
“The Pitt” led the field with 25 noms, as befitting the reigning Emmy drama series champ. “Hacks” commanded an even two dozen bids for the farewell season of Deborah Vance and Co. HBO’s tally was also padded by its new David Harbour drama “DTF St. Louis,” which grabbed 13 mentions. As a studio, Warner Bros. Television Group was buoyed to 52 nominations, paced by “The Pitt,” Apple TV’s “Shrinking” (with 10), ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” (7), three for NBC’s “The Voice” and two apiece for HBO Max’s “It: Welcome to Derry” and Netflix’s “Leanne.”

Netflix ranked second to HBO Max, in a rerun of last year’s nominations standings. The streamer’s anthology franchise “Beef” packed a punch with its second installment, with 16 noms across top categories. Limited series “The Beast in Me” came in with nine. The final season of “Stranger Things” pulled in seven noms, as did the Jason Bateman-Jude Law vehicle “Black Rabbit,” returning drama series “The Diplomat” and the latest installment of the “Monster” franchise, “The Ed Gein Story.”

HBO Max was down from last year’s all-time high of 142; Netflix was also down from its 2025 tally of 120.
Apple TV had its best-ever showing this year with 89 noms, thanks largely to two buzzy freshman series: The spooky dramedy “Widow’s Bay” (competing in the comedy heats), with 19, and the Rhea Seehorn-Vince Gilligan tour de force “Pluribus,” with 18.
Among the major studio groups, Warner Bros. Discovery weighed in with no less than 150 nominations across HBO, Warner Bros. and cable networks including Adult Swim and Food Network. Warner Bros. TV Group, home of “The Pitt,” commanded 52 bids.
The Walt Disney Co. tallied up 125 noms across its many platforms, from Hulu and FX to ABC to National Geographic TV. ABC’s Oscars telecast snared nine noms, followed by FX’s “The Bear” with eight and seven apiece for ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” FX’s “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette” and “Paradise.” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the ABC late-night mainstay that has been in the headlines of late, nabbed a half-dozen mentions.
Hulu and FX combined for 23 while Disney+ grabbed 14, including six for the revival of “The Muppet Show” and five for the Taylor Swift concert film “The Eras Tour: The Final Show.” National Geographic reeled in six for “Ocean With David Attenborough” and three for Stanley Tucci’s travelogue series “Tucci in Italy.”
NBCUniversal’s platforms — NBC, Peacock and Bravo — totaled up 90 nominations when all was said and done. Universal Studio Group pulled in 58 noms, nearly half of which came from “Hacks,” and another 11 from perennial Emmy darling “Saturday Night Live.” The Peacock limited series “All Her Fault” weighed in with seven noms and the streamer’s buzzy reality series “The Traitors” nabbed six, including bids for best reality-competition series and for host Alan Cumming. Bravo shows picked up five mentions, one for “Summer House” and four for “Top Chef.”
Among the Big Three networks, ABC grabbed 35, CBS took in 32, nine of which came from the now-canceled “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” and NBC landed 30.
Amazon Prime Video came in at 28, thanks to nine for “Fallout” and five for “The Boys.” MGM+’s buzzy “Spider-Noir” series commanded 11 noms largely in technical categories as well as for score and for original tune “The Devil You Know,” sung by series co-star Li Jun Li. Amazon MGM Studios pulled in 68 noms across its productions for Prime Video and MGM+.
Sony Pictures Television had a big year thanks to “Pluribus” striking a strong chord with Emmy voters as well as “The Boys,” for a total of 44.
