How do I contact a Tor Publishing Group author?
We regularly forward mail to authors. Address mail to [Author Name], c/o Tor Publishing Group, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271. Please be aware that due to the volume of mail received, it may take time for your letter or package to be forwarded. Only regular mail will be forwarded.
Authors’ addresses, phone numbers, and personal email addresses are held in confidence; while we will forward regular mail, we cannot give out contact information. For direct contact, we encourage you to check an author’s website or social media accounts for any publicly-available information.
Will Tor Publishing Group authors autograph my copies of their books?
We cannot guarantee that an author will sign your book, but we will forward packages.  If you send a book to be signed, please enclose a return mailer.  Tor Publishing Group and the authors are not responsible for damage incurred during shipping; books and other material to be autographed are sent at your own risk.
Can I get a replacement copy of a damaged book?
If you have purchased a damaged book, you should return or exchange it at the place of purchase.
If that fails, we will replace the book if it has a manufacturing defect. Manufacturing defects are: missing or repeated pages, pages from another book bound in, incorrect binding that cuts off part of the text. We will not replace copies which have become worn or damaged through regular use or due to fire, flood, or accident. 
To request a replacement book, please send photo(s) of the damaged book (including pictures of error and of the copyright page) to [email protected] and our operations team will communicate the next steps.
Can I get a replacement jacket for a hardcover?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide replacement jackets for hardcovers. These are produced in limited quantities and there are no extras.
How do I apply for a job at Tor Publishing Group?

Does Tor Publishing Group hire freelance copyeditors or proofreaders?
Tor Publishing Group hires a limited number of freelance copyeditors and proofreaders. To apply, please mail a resume to Managing Editor, Tor Publishing Group, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271.
How do I get an examination copy or a desk copy of a Tor Publishing Group book?
One desk copy is available for every twenty copies ordered. Examination copies are also available to instructors seeking titles to consider for course adoption. Exam copies are limited to five exam copies per semester per instructor.
Please order desk copies and examination copies online through our request form. Please note that all desk and examination copy requests are subject to availability and approval. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Not valid for addresses outside the United States.

Internship Program
Where do I find information about internship opportunities at Tor Publishing Group?
Macmillan Publishers’ internship program is available to candidates who have graduated high school, are over the age of 18, are eligible to work in the U.S., and aspire to pursue a career in the publishing industry. Applicants who identify with groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry are strongly encouraged to apply.
Interns in our program will become familiar with the basic structure of the department/team and gain a general understanding of the key roles the particular trade/shared services function plays in a publishing house. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in job-related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments.

What types of internships are available at Tor?
Editorial interns and Editorial interns (Young Adult) gain insight into the process of publishing a book at every stage, from contract request to catalog to finished book. Both types of internships provide interaction with other departments, including Production, Marketing, Ad Promo and Publicity. Students learn about acquisitions and the editorial process, rights and territories, contracts, sales, and scheduling. They have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of genre fiction, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, and romance. Young Adult interns work with many of the same genres; Young Adult books are targeted to readers ages 10 and up.  Editorial interns may be asked to work with a particular editor or on a specific project during their time at Tor.
Marketing interns will be involved in mailing galleys and promotional items, assisting with preparation for major meetings, and attending marketing and sales meetings as appropriate.  Interns will be exposed to various stages of the marketing process and have the opportunity to learn. A certain amount of filing is required.
Publicity interns will be involved in researching and updating our media contact database, assisting in press kit compilation, and media mailings of both advance releases and review copies. Interns are also required to do a certain amount of filing and office organizational work. Once we feel the intern is ready, they will be given the chance to write press releases and press materials and pitch the media.  They may also be given the opportunity to assist with author events, tours, and other creative projects, including online publicity campaigns.
Submission Guidelines
How do I submit writing to Tor Publishing Group?
Tor Publishing Group imprints do not accept unsolicited manuscripts or queries. Submissions must be made through an agent. We do not accept responsibility for loss, damage to, or return of unsolicited materials sent to us and regret that we cannot read all material that is sent to us. We wish you the best of luck in placing your work!
On limited occasions, select imprints may hold an “open door” period, during which time we will consider novels by unagented authors. If applicable, “open door” periods with submission guidelines will be announced on individual imprint social media accounts. 
How do I submit art to Tor Publishing Group?
We do not currently accept physical portfolios for review and do not accept responsibility for loss, damage to, or return of unsolicited materials sent to us.
