Find available languages you can use On Android devices, Google Assistant is available in the following languages: Arabic Bengali Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Danish Dutch English French German Gujarati Hindi Indonesian Italian Japanese Kannada Korean Malayalam Marathi Norwegian Polish Portuguese (Brazil) Portuguese (Portugal) Russian Spanish Swedish Tamil Telugu Thai Turkish Urdu Vietnamese Check if your device has what it needs To use the Google Assistant, you’ll need a device with: Android 5.0+ with at least 1.0GB of available memory or Android 6.0+ with at least 1.5GB of available memory Google app 6.13 or higher Google Play services 720p or higher screen resolution Device's language set to a language listed above Check your Android version Learn how to check and update your Android version. Check your Google app version On your device, open the Google app . On the Home screen, tap Menu Settings About. Look for the version number at the top. If your version is below 6.13, go to the Google app page. Tap Update. Check if you have Google Play services On your device, go to the Google Play services page. Tap Install. If you find "Uninstall" or "Deactivate," you already have Google Play services. Start a conversation On your device, touch and hold the Home button or say "Hey Google." If the Google Assistant is off, you'll be asked to turn it on. Ask a question or say a command. Tip: On devices that run Android 8.0 and up, you can also talk to the Google Assistant when your device is locked when you say "Hey Google." Other ways to reach your Assistant Type with the keyboard On your device, touch and hold the Home button. Tap Keyboard . Enter a question or command. Tap Send . Open the Google Assistant app On your device, open the Google Assistant app . Ask a question or say a command. Squeeze your phone (Pixel 2, 3, 3a & 4) Squeeze the bottom half of your phone. Ask a question or say a command. Find the squeeze gesture or learn how to change how hard you have to squeeze your phone. Press & hold the Power button On Pixel 6 and later, this includes Fold, press and hold the Power button. If you have a Pixel 4a or later, this includes Fold that runs Android 12 and up and want to talk to Assistant with the power button: Open device Settings. Tap System Gestures. Press and hold the Power button. Choose how to communicate with Google Assistant On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Under "All settings," tap General Preferred input. Choose your preferred input. To say your question or command, tap Voice. To type your question or command, tap Keyboard.
