Personal Intelligence in AI Mode references previous searches and activity saved in your Search Services History to provide suggestions tailored to your tastes and preferences. AI Mode might not always get personalization right. If AI Mode gets something wrong, you’re always in control to respond with a follow-up to correct or clarify.
Important: AI Mode personalization is available if you're 18 or older and have history and personalized recommendations enabled.
- You can opt in or out of personalization at any time by changing your personalized recommendations setting.

Get a more tailored experience with memory in AI Mode
If you have history and personalized recommendations enabled, you can get a personalized experience from AI Mode with memory of your past searches and interactions over time. By directly telling AI Mode the details or preferences you want to be remembered or forgotten, AI Mode can further tailor responses based on what matters most to you. This experience is available in the US, in English.
Manage AI Mode memory
You can instruct AI Mode to remember or forget specific details to get more helpful responses. For example:
- To remember: Tell AI Mode, "Remember [specific detail]."
- For example: “Remember I prefer Italian food.”
- To forget: Tell AI Mode, “Forget [specific detail]."
- For example: “Forget I prefer Italian food.”
- To review what AI Mode knows about you: Ask for a summary
- For example: “What do you know about me?”
- To update: Provide a new detail.
- For example: “I don’t run marathons anymore.”
Supercharge Personal Intelligence: Connect your Google content apps
Connecting your Google content apps, starting with Workspace apps (Gmail and Calendar) and Google Photos, helps enhance Personal Intelligence even further by connecting the dots across more of your Google content apps. If you choose to connect Google content apps to Search services, you can tap into your own personal context and insights to get AI Mode responses that are uniquely tailored to you. You can choose to connect or disconnect your Google content apps at any time.
This feature is available to users 18 or older.
Note: Consenting to this experience means that all Search services will be permitted to access Workspace and Google Photos. Search services include Google Search (incl. AI Mode, Discover), Maps, Shopping, News, Flights, Hotels, and Translate.
