You can now start building a grocery cart directly in AI Mode, then seamlessly check out using your preferred third-party grocery app.
What you need
Important: This feature is only available with select merchants in the US in English.
- You must be signed into a Google Account
- Many apps require you to have an account with their service, which you will have to connect to your Google Account first to take action. You can use this feature without a pre-linked account only where available.
How it works
- On your computer, go to Google Search and tap AI Mode
.
- You can also go to google.com/ai.
- Enter your question in the Ask anything bar near the bottom of the screen. For example:
- “Create a grocery cart of items that can be delivered asap for a backyard movie night for 8 people tonight. Include healthy snacks.”
- “I want to make spaghetti bolognese and healthy tiramisu for a dinner I’m hosting tonight for 10 people. Create a grocery cart for me.”
- “Take this recipe and add all ingredients to cart.”
- If your grocery app isn’t connected, you’ll get the option to connect it.
- To connect to the 3P app, your 3P account must be linked to your Google Account. If it isn’t, then follow the on-screen instructions to link it.
- Once AI Mode has completed your request, it will direct you to the grocery app to make the purchase.
Current Grocery Apps Available
- Instacart
- Tip: Connect your Instacart account with a US-based delivery address to your Google account.
- Shoppers must be 18 years of age, per Instacart policy.
What you can’t do in AI Mode
AI Mode currently can’t perform certain actions for you using the connected grocery shopping app. AI Mode can’t:
- Place or manage orders. AI Mode will give you a link to the connected grocery shopping app such as Instacart to complete the action.
- Check your order status.
- Get your order history.
Optimize your experience
For the best experience, enable history and personalized recommendations. Without this setting enabled, you can still access AI Mode but can't pick up where you left off with previous searches.
