On 9 July, Changi Airport Group hosted a charity golf event to raise funds for the construction of the new Maitri Building (Training Block) by Metta Welfare Association, which is slated to open in 2028. The new facility will support youths with special needs aged 18 and above as they transition from school to vocational training, employment and greater independence. Through purpose-built facilities and programmes, it will equip them with practical skills and opportunities to lead purposeful and dignified lives within the community. We were honoured to have Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance, Mr Jeffrey Siow, grace the occasion. The event brought together more than 50 donors and sponsors from the Changi Airport community, raising $608,000 for the meaningful cause. This year's event builds on the success of our inaugural charity golf tournament in 2023, which raised $500,000 for the development of the Maitri School (Teaching Block), supporting students aged 7 to 18 with mild intellectual disability and moderate to severe autism spectrum disorder. A massive thank you to our partners across the Changi Airport community for their generous cash and in-kind contributions. As Changi Airport continues to grow, CAG is investing in more workspace for the many people and businesses that keep our air hub running. We have awarded Nakano Singapore a contract to develop Changi Airport’s first standalone office building at Terminal 3. The six-storey development, to be integrated with a revamped coach stand, will offer 9,600 sqm of purpose-built workspace to meet the growing demand from airlines, airport partners and other businesses seeking proximity to Changi Airport. We're marking a new milestone in remote flight operations with the launch of Changi Airport's first satellite gate! The two-storey, 200-sqm facility connects directly to aircraft via two aerobridges, and is designed to enhance the experience for passengers travelling to and from aircraft parked away from a terminal. The satellite gate offers a completely sheltered passenger journey; a fully air-conditioned interior with fans for added comfort; as well as step-free access for wheelchair users, families with strollers, and passengers with wheeled cabin luggage. Beyond improving passenger experience, the facility also provides a more comfortable and sheltered working environment for airport staff deployed for remote flight operations. Plus, it's powered entirely by its own rooftop solar panels. As passenger traffic continues to grow at Changi, facilities such as the satellite gate will play an increasingly important role in supporting the airport’s operational flexibility.

Work shouldn’t be about just doing more, or going through the motions. It should be about creating value, both for employees and for the organisation. This is why in mid-2025, CAG launched Project P.A.C.E., an initiative to encourage employees to declutter their work by identifying tasks (including meetings!) that could be eliminated, simplified, automated or reduced. CAGians took to this initiative whole-heartedly, consciously 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 their tasks, 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 along the way, 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 with one another, and 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 results. As at end-May this year, we have collectively been able to save more than 90,000 man-hours, channeling that time towards generating more meaningful and impactful outcomes. And this is just the beginning – we’re continuing to build on Project P.A.C.E. and empowering our people to do more of what truly matters!

What happens when an aircraft becomes disabled — when it sustained damage that prevents it from moving under its own power or being towed using standard equipment? To ensure Changi Airport is ready for such rare but critical situations, CAG has been conducting annual Disabled Aircraft Recovery exercises since 2020 as part of its business continuity planning. These drills test and strengthen the readiness of CAG and its airport partners to safely and efficiently recover a disabled aircraft should an incident occur. Changi Airports International Pte Ltd (CAI), CAG's international airport management and investment arm, is strengthening its partnership with Sun Group to support the development of airport infrastructure and connectivity in Vietnam. A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last Friday will see CAI provide technical advisory services in areas such as design management, business preparation and airport operations for future airport projects beyond Phu Quoc. Building on the strong collaboration between CAI and Sun Group on Phu Quoc airport, the expanded partnership combines CAI's global airport expertise with Sun Group's destination development capabilities. Together, the two organisations share a vision of enhancing connectivity, elevating travel experiences and supporting the continued growth of Vietnam's leading travel destinations.

Ensuring the sustainability and resilience of runway surfaces is a common challenge that airports across the world face. Runway quality affects the safety of take-offs and landings, especially in wet weather, indirectly impacting flight schedules as well. Recognising the value of bringing global airport operators and industry experts together to share insights on this specialised topic, Changi Airports International Pte Ltd is organising the second edition of its Sustainable Airport Pavement Management conference in October.
