These reinvention-ready organizations aren’t just adopting AI-they’re embedding it into their core strategy, integrating AI agents, and reshaping industries. I shared this finding with @Estelle Quek from CIO ASEAN in her podcast. We covered a lot of ground… from how accountability for AI needs to be deliberately built into corporate governance structures, to why workforce fear is the single biggest barrier to adoption. But the question that stayed with me: what is the most important leadership quality of the AI era? Not agility. Not technical fluency. Empathy. AI only has the context it has been given. It cannot read the room. It cannot notice something is wrong before it has been said out loud. That irreducibly human capability – judgment, emotional intelligence, gut feel – is precisely what keeps us in the lead, not just in the loop. https://lnkd.in/grRU_u2T Human in the Lead – CEO of Accenture SEA on Trust, Accountability and Responsible AI in Southeast Asia Human in the Lead – CEO of Accenture SEA on Trust, Accountability and Responsible AI in Southeast Asia 54 2 Comments Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Anoop Sagoo Anoop Sagoo 3w Report this post Anoop Sagoo shared this In Kuala Lumpur for the launch of Accenture's research with @FIDE FORUM – "From Oversight to Advantage" – and the urgency in the room was real. Across APAC, AI is scaling. But not everywhere. The gap is widening: only 17% of Malaysian financial institutions have scaled even a single AI strategic bet — versus 50% across APAC. Not one has achieved full enterprise-wide integration. And yet the ingredients to lead are all here — 32% of Southeast Asia's AI investment, 80% of consumers already using generative AI daily, and one of the region's most coordinated policy frameworks. The prize is clear. Scaled AI adoption could unlock up to ~US$1.8 billion in incremental value for Malaysia's top six banks — a ~16% uplift in pre-tax profit over three years. The institutions pulling ahead have stopped bolting AI onto existing processes. They've woven it into how the entire enterprise thinks, senses, and responds. Thank you to Minister Gobind Singh Deo for his opening address. Great to hear how much the Digital economy in Malaysia will flourish with growth through AI! It was a privilege to deliver a keynote — and then join Datuk Kamaruddin Taib (Chairman, FIDE Forum) and Ethan Seow (CEO, Centre for AI Leadership) on the panel with Shazana M. M from BFM 89.9 asking all the right questions. The question is not whether to invest in AI — but whether you're scaling fast enough. Is your institution truly ready to be changed by it? Not because they lack ambition, but because the foundations aren't there. The data is siloed. Governance is an afterthought. Technology hasn't been democratized across the organization. And critically, people haven't been brought on the journey. https://lnkd.in/gS2nYwdD I kept coming back to an analogy: the plumbing. Before any of the exciting stuff works – the intelligent agents, the personalized experiences, the real-time decisions – the pipes have to be right. And nowhere is this more visible than in banking across Southeast Asia. Banks here are sitting on some of the most complex risk and compliance infrastructure in the world. Legacy systems layered over decades. Regulatory obligations that vary market by market. It sounds like a constraint, but it's actually becoming a competitive advantage. Because AI is extraordinarily good at exactly this kind of complexity. Processing risk at scale. Navigating compliance requirements in real time. Freeing up human judgment for what actually requires it. And on the consumer side, SEA consumers are among the most digitally active in the world, and their expectations are rising faster than most institutions can keep up with manually. The companies that get the plumbing right are the ones that will meet those expectations – personalized, fast, and trustworthy – at a scale that simply wasn't possible before. Because here's what the 15% understand that others don't: AI reinvention isn't a technology deployment. It's a people transformation that happens to be powered by technology. The shift from human-in-the-loop to human-in-the-lead only works when your people have the tools, the access, and the confidence to lead. Democratizing AI across every function, not just the tech team, is what separates the leaders from the laggards. And doing it at speed. It's a theme that keeps coming up in my conversations with leaders across Southeast Asia. That conversation continues at #ATxSummit 2026, today I'll be moderating the panel: The AI-Native Enterprise: Transforming at Machine Speed, as part of @ATxSG, Asia's premier tech platform. Because designing for AI — not just deploying it — means asking harder questions: What does a truly AI-native enterprise look like? How are agentic AI platforms enabling organisations to redesign operations end-to-end, continuously, and at machine speed? What competitive advantages are early movers actually gaining? And which use cases are delivering real business outcomes today? I look forward to sharing my insights and driving meaningful conversations at the intersection of technology, society, and the digital economy — because this is where the real stakes of reinvention lie. It's not just about enterprise performance. It's about how we shape the future of work and growth across Southeast Asia. One thing is consistently clear: human creativity becomes more important as AI scales — not less. The leaders pulling ahead are the ones elevating the human-AI relationship, building the right foundations, and executing with speed and precision. That's exactly the kind of reinvention I'm looking forward to unpacking on this panel with Rameez Ansar , Prakash Arunkundrum , Albert P. , Nicolás Morales and Ren Yeong Sng. The conversation centred on the real mechanics of enterprise-scale adoption: breaking down data silos, and building a secure, collaborative workforce where humans and AI create value together. That energy carried through the 39th CIO Workshop with 270+ leaders. We were privileged to have George Yeo deliver the keynote, exploring how AI is reshaping global power dynamics and why, for leaders, the critical question is how to preserve strategic agency and human judgement in an era of rapid technological bifurcation. It was a masterclass in thinking beyond the technology — and anchoring our decisions in geopolitical and strategic reality. Minister of State Jasmin Lau set a clear national direction — Singapore is not merely adopting AI, it is architecting a national ecosystem for it. From AI-powered enterprise transformation to cultivating a workforce that is genuinely AI-ready, the ambition is both bold and deliberate. These are not future aspirations; they are imperatives being acted on today. One truth resonated above all else: the future of intelligence is Humans and AI working in collaboration. The greatest value will not come from AI alone — it will come from humans, agents, and intelligent systems working in concert to solve what neither could alone. #AI #AgenticAI #Leadership #Singapore #AccentureSoutheastAsia public_profile__posts 279 1 Comment Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Anoop Sagoo Anoop Sagoo 2mo Report this post Anoop Sagoo shared this What am amazing CEO Forum session in Bangkok this week. Different #perspectives on growth, risk, talent, and transformation. Yet many of the same questions: How do we lead in a world that is becoming harder to predict? How do we reinvent fast enough? And how do we ensure technology strengthens — not replaces — human potential? As I shared in my opening remarks: “In a world full of distractions, the real challenge for leaders is knowing what to focus on… and what to block out.” Because we are living through one of the most important shifts in decades. AI is no longer a future topic. It is already reshaping how we work, compete, engage customers, redesign operations — and ultimately, how we lead. What impressed me most yesterday was not only the technology discussions — but the willingness of leaders to challenge assumptions, share real experiences, and openly discuss both opportunities and concerns. A special thank you to our exceptional speakers and panelists — Nick Law , Karalee Close, George Hartel, Pound Vongsoonthorn , Dr. Wit Sittivaekin, and Anoop Sagoo — for helping us elevate the conversation far beyond technology. And yes… Adam Burden and Dr. Mads D. Lauritzen definitely left many people thinking differently on the ride home. I recently shared my perspectives on this shift with @ITNews Asia on their podcast. Across Southeast Asia, we’re seeing growing appetite from organizations for intelligent transformation, well beyond traditional automation focused on efficiency. AI is increasingly embedded into everyday workflows, decisions, and tools – closer to employees, customers, and operations – enabling faster responses and more resilient systems. A major shift will come from scale. Agentic AI can coordinate work across functions – from IT and operations to finance, HR, and customer teams – breaking down silos and reshaping how organizations operate. Many of our clients are already investing in deeper transformation areas such as regulatory compliance, security, and legacy modernization, putting AI at the heart of enterprise reinvention. Success will depend on leadership – setting clear strategy, embedding oversight, and focusing AI where it drives real business impact. At the same time, strong guardrails such as human in the lead oversight, accountability, and robust data protections are essential to scale AI responsibly. Dad simply said, “Technology enables people to become more. Learn how to use it well, and you’ll be able to help many more people than you ever could on your own.” I chose IT. Looking back, I realize Dad never chose my profession. He shaped my purpose. Years later, whether I was at Microsoft, IBM, or now leading Accenture Thailand, he would always ask me the same simple question: “How will Thailand benefit from the work you’ll be doing?” For nearly four decades in the technology industry, those two simple lessons have quietly guided almost every leadership decision I’ve made. That purpose has guided me through every opportunity, every difficult decision, and every chapter of my career. That’s why this interview with Money & Banking Magazine means more to me than most. It was recorded just one day before Dad passed away—peacefully and unexpectedly. He was always my biggest supporter. Every interview, every article, every keynote, every speech… he would read or watch them all. Afterwards, we’d talk about them, and he would smile as though every achievement was somehow his own. This is the first interview he never got to read. As I read it again, I realized that while my name appears on the cover, the ideas within it began long before my career did. They began at home. Everything I believe about technology, AI, leadership, and nation building was shaped by two extraordinary people—my mom and my dad. Technology has never been the destination for me. It has always been a way to create opportunities, strengthen organizations, improve lives, and contribute to the future of Thailand. My sincere thanks to Money & Banking Magazine for the opportunity to share these perspectives. And thank you, Dad. You may not have had the chance to read this interview. But your fingerprints are on every page. 🇹🇭 The interview is published in Thai, but thanks to today’s AI, language is becoming less of a barrier. I hope both the interview—and the story behind it—resonate with friends and colleagues around the world. I grew up in a small town in the eastern corner of India, in a middle-class family. My father gave me curiosity and a love for learning, and my mother taught me hard work and the habit of getting things done. Whatever I have become, I owe to them, and to the many people who carried me further than I could have gone on my own. Trust has been the thread running through all of it - the mentors at Xerox, GE and Genpact who shaped who I am and believed in me long before I had earned it. The chance to help build something from nothing at Genpact; the faith Satya Nadella showed in me when he asked me to lead a region at Microsoft, and now the trust that SMFG has chosen to place in kAIgentic. That last one stops me in my tracks. This is more than capital - this is a 400-year-old institution placing its trust in our mission and our team, in a technology where trust will be foundational for success. Trust like that is not something you bank. It is something you live up to, every single day. When I think about what I have seen through my life - we got our first landline at home when I was 13, our first television when I was 15. Technology took years, sometimes decades, to reach a town like mine - the world would invent, and we would wait. Each leap looked impossible right up until the moment it became accessible. That is why this moment feels like such a privilege. Today, technology reaches people almost the instant it is born, and AI will move faster than any leap before it. This time, we are not waiting for the wave - we are shaping it, and that comes with an ownership I take seriously: to make sure this one is inclusive. AI has already put the power to build into so many more hands, turning ideas into real businesses for people who would never have had the means before. What this can do for inclusive growth, for helping enterprises grow and through them lifting economies and the people inside them, is exactly what fills me with energy. But the part I hold most closely is the people who chose to join me. Last week someone asked what keeps me going, and I told them it isn't the company - it is the trust this team has placed in me. I carry their careers, their futures and the impact they came here to make, and I take that as the greatest responsibility of all. One where yes premium players focus on high-revenue elective procedures - but do so selectively in stable patients - those unlikely to become cost sinks due to complications.
