As AI advances, there's growing uncertainty around its impact on jobs and the economy. At Google, we are optimistic that AI will empower people to achieve more and drive widespread growth, but this progress is not guaranteed. It requires a new era of partnership across government, industry, and civil society to ensure every American benefits from the AI transition.
Google is committed to grounding this dialogue in data and providing pathways to success through programs like our AI Essentials course; to date, we’ve already trained 100 million people globally with digital skills. We also need sensible public policies that support Americans as the economy evolves. Fortunately, several bipartisan proposals in Congress address these challenges head-on. Today, Google is endorsing these bills because the future of work isn't just about the technology – it’s about empowering the people who use it .
June 11 update: Today we are endorsing eight new sensible policy proposals that help scale training efforts, support workers, and encourage technology that empowers people. With the government's support, we can ensure Americans are prepared for the jobs of the future.
These bipartisan bills will help prepare Americans for the AI transition in three key ways:
1. Assess AI’s economic impact.
Policymakers need a clear picture of how AI will impact the economy, including data that explains where jobs are changing, where retraining is working, and where new roles are being created. Google supports several bills that will help policymakers assess AI’s economic impact:

3. Encourage AI adoption that empowers workers.
To build trust in and increase the use of AI, we need to create new opportunities for people to access AI tools. From our annual study with IPSOS, we know that the more people use AI, the more they look forward to the possibilities it can unlock. Public policy can be helpful in encouraging adoption and use of AI – especially by focusing on AI tools that empower rather than replace workers. Approaches Google supports, include:
