R.G. Manabat & Co. held a Corporate and International Tax Seminar for its tax interns on 8 July at The KPMG Center. The seminar aimed to broaden the interns’ understanding of essential tax concepts and equip them with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to support tax practitioners. Tax Manager Gina Mae Dulnuan and Assistant Manager Christelle Ann Torio discussed key corporate and international tax concepts in Philippine tax practice, including business entities and their tax implications, as well as an introduction to transfer pricing. The seminar provided interns with an opportunity to strengthen their technical knowledge, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to supporting their learning and development.

As one of the summit speakers, Technology Consulting Partner Gilbert Trinchera delivered a presentation titled "Evolving from Threat Detection to Self-Defending Systems: AI's Role in the Next Era of Cyber Resilience," sharing his perspectives on the future of AI-driven cybersecurity. The presentation explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping cybersecurity, from improving threat detection to enabling intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous defense capabilities. It also highlighted the importance of responsible AI governance, human oversight, and cyber resilience by design to help organizations build trust while navigating an increasingly complex threat landscape. On 24 to 25 June, R.G. Manabat & Co. in partnership with the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education, brought together accounting educators from across the country for the KPMG Seminar Series: Bridging Standards and Practice – International Financial Reporting Standards, Tax, and Sustainability Updates for Educators. Risk Management Partner and Head of the Department of Professional Practice Ma. Gracia Casals-Diaz opened the webinar with welcome remarks, underscoring the importance of staying up to date with developments in financial reporting, taxation, and sustainability. Deputy Head of the Department of Professional Practice Arvin Yanga and Audit and Assurance Partner Warren Angeles led sessions on IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements, with Arvin also discussing updates on new and amended IFRS Accounting Standards. Tax Director Hanna Karen Almario shared the latest tax updates, while Department of Professional Practice Senior Manager Nico John Veluz presented the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard – Third Edition. ESG Advisory and Assurance Director Dianne Llarena concluded the series with discussions on understanding greenhouse gas emissions and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
