Introduced in July 2018, Setel is a mobile platform that aims to delight customers by innovating for better, inclusive mobility. Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists’ journey across fuelling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.
Mobility is defined as the ability to move, be it physically or circumstantially. At Setel, we envision the Future of Mobility as the simplification of moving from one place to another through technological advancement.
Our Milestones
- Enrich the convenience of purchasing at PETRONAS stations by seamlessly integrating both payments & the Mesra loyalty programme.
- Enable one-tap fuelling from the petrol pump, cashless payments at PETRONAS Kedai Mesra, and store-to-vehicle shopping with the Deliver2Me feature to improve customer purchasing experience.
- Pioneered the industry’s first cardless fleet fuelling solution for PETRONAS SmartPay.
- Introduce mobility features such as parking payment, road tax renewal, vehicle takaful and insurance renewal, and auto assistance - all powered by Setel’s e-Wallet. More partners and features will be added to grow the mobility ecosystem.
- Gradually expanding the presence of Setel payment availability to physical and online stores nationwide.
- Extend the mobile platform to PETRONAS Shop, an eCommerce site that offers authentic PETRONAS products such as merchandise, lubricants, vouchers and more.
- Incorporate the ‘One-click checkout’ feature that allows customers to complete transactions faster as shipping and payment details are obtained directly from their Setel account.
- Pilot used cooking oil recycling feature to contribute towards securing feedstock for green fuel.

What an incredible night at the Official Setel Engagement Futsal Tournament 2026! ⚽ 🏆
With football fever sweeping across the globe, we brought that same excitement closer to home through our Musim Bola Malaysia Bersama campaign, gathering teams from Setel, PETRONAS DAGANGAN BERHAD (PDB) and MESRA for an evening filled with competition, camaraderie and plenty of unforgettable moments.
Across four tournament brackets, we witnessed stunning goals, last-minute saves, passionate supporters and teammates giving their all until the very final whistle. More importantly, it was an opportunity for colleagues from across different teams and OPUs to come together, reconnect and celebrate the spirit of the game as one community.
A special appreciation goes to our friends who travelled near and far to be part of this tournament. And of course, thank you to every player, supporter, organiser and volunteer who brought the energy from start to finish. You made this more than just a futsal tournament. You made it a night to remember.

This week, our Senior Analyst II, Customer Experience, Sylvia W., hosted a voluntary Research Sharing Session, opening the floor to anyone across the company. As part of her role, Sylvia spends time understanding how customers experience our products, uncovering their pain points, and turning those insights into meaningful recommendations for our teams.

While some of the team were bringing Malaysians together at our last engagement event in PJ, other teams were hard at work at other locations.
In Kuching, Sarawak, we engaged with mall visitors and introduced more Malaysians to Setel’s non-fuel offerings, from payments and Setel Savers to our latest campaigns and promotions, while also providing assistance for Cardless PETRONAS SmartPay registrations and enquiries.
At the same time, another team was at Sunway University and Sunway College, engaging students and supporting digital inclusion initiatives among the younger generation.
Great turnouts, meaningful conversations and new sign-ups throughout the weekend.
Marketing today isn’t one campaign in one location, it’s multiple teams, across multiple cities, working towards one goal.
Proud of the team for flying the Setel flag across different segments in Klang Valley and East Malaysia, all at the same time.

The best practice is to experience it yourself! 🧑🏫
This time, we welcomed students from UiTM Shah Alam for a day of learning at Setel. The session began with a presentation by our Lead Android Engineer, Ryan Hoo Boon Keong, who shared what goes on behind the scenes of building digital products, from software engineering to the collaboration that brings every feature to life.
Then, it was the students' turn.
Our Talent Attraction Team, Japheth T. and Shamala Batumalai challenged them to become recruiters for the day. With three resume samples in hand, every group had one task: decide who they'd shortlist and be ready to explain why. Who knew three resumes could spark so many debates? 😆

What a day at Setel: Musim Bola Malaysia Bersama! ⚽
Bringing together 32 teams, passionate supporters, families, and the wider community, the event celebrated the spirit of Malaysian football both on and off the pitch. Beyond the tournament, visitors enjoyed interactive activities, connected with local brands, and experienced a day filled with energy and memorable moments—made even more special by the appearance of Bella Astillah and Ayden!
