A huge thank you to our Galway team at Moore Ireland who took part in our recent Jersey Day in aid of MADRA Dog Rescue, the Galway-based charity. Despite the disappointment of Galway missing out on the Liam MacCarthy Cup yesterday, our team wore their county colours with pride and came together in support of a fantastic cause. Our Jersey Day was a great opportunity to support MADRA and the incredible work they do in rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs across Galway and beyond. The office was a sea of colours, representing counties from across Ireland, and the day was a great reminder of the strong community spirit within our team. A special congratulations to our colleague Kieran Hanrahan, a member of the Galway senior hurling panel. Although injury unfortunately ruled Kieran out of participating in the final, reaching an All-Ireland Final remains a tremendous achievement and one of which he can be immensely proud. As our capacity-building programme in Sierra Leone came to a close, the final days focused on practical delivery, reflection, and collaboration. Day 5 marked a shift beyond audit theory. On the basis that the best way to long term knowledge is application, we facilitated participants conducting loan testing themselves using real samples from UPS Credit Union. With immediate, hands-on feedback from Dawood, participants applied processes in real time, building confidence and strengthening their understanding of loan audits. On Day 6 live audit work commenced at UPS Credit Union, led by Dawood, working alongside some of the ILCUF/NaCCUA auditing team and the credit union staff. Simultaneous to the live audit work taking place with the local audit team, Pearse, Jenny, and Suzie prepared and delivered tailored training on loan management and supervision of loan performance to the Monitoring and Compliance team. The presentation material linked risk and policy to the ultimate loan audit testing tool so that the Monitoring and Compliance team could generate a continuum that would also ultimately benefit and link with the audit team. The programme concluded with an exam that demonstrated strong engagement and clear progress in loan testing. On Day 7 the Moore team was also delighted to meet with Patrick McManus ,Ambassador of Ireland to Sierra Leone, and Carol Hannon, Head of Development, to share reflections, key learnings, and ideas to support financial inclusion, developing financial systems, and future infrastructural improvements. A huge thank you to all the trainees in Sierra Leone, the ILCU International Development Foundation team, and our Moore colleagues Pearse, Dawood, Jenny, and Suzie. This has been a rewarding journey for our team and our firm in terms of sharing its knowledge and experience with others who can influence their community’s economic growth. Working with such dedicated professionals and experiencing the culture and community in Sierra Leone has been truly heartening and bringing our influence to bear on something so rewarding is something that aligns with Moore’s core principles. This trip represented the first key step to strengthening local capacity in terms of audit, governance and controls, and in turn supporting sustainable financial inclusion. We look forward to year 2 and the continued progress of this collaboration between Moore and ILCUF.
