Hi everyone,
I’m building an app with Google AI Studio, using the version released after March 2026.
During the setup, AI Studio asked me to choose a Firestore location. However, I could not find any Japan regions in the location dropdown, such as Tokyo or Osaka. Because of that, I selected Singapore.
After publishing the app, I noticed that both Firestore and Cloud Run were created in Singapore.
My target users are mainly in Japan, so I would have preferred to use a Japan region, ideally Tokyo (asia-northeast1) or Osaka (asia-northeast2).
Has anyone else experienced this issue in Google AI Studio?
Specifically:
Did the Firestore location dropdown also not show Japan regions for you?
Is this an AI Studio limitation, a rollout issue, or a bug?
Is there any way to make AI Studio create Firestore and Cloud Run in Tokyo or Osaka?
If the Firestore database has already been created in Singapore, is the only practical solution to create a new Firebase/GCP project and redeploy everything?
For context:
App built with: Google AI Studio
Firestore location selected: Singapore
Result after publishing: Firestore and Cloud Run both deployed in Singapore
Desired region: Japan, preferably asia-northeast1 Tokyo
Main user base: Japan
