As we reflect on NAIDOC Week 2026 and this year's theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’, DT Infrastructure is proud to highlight our partnership with Baan Group. Following the launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in May, we spoke with Kane Ellis, Baan Group Founder and Chairman. Kane shared insights into Baan Group’s journey. He also discussed how the infrastructure industry can better champion and support emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises. At DTI, we aim to use our unique industry position to create genuine opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. Our focus is on driving enterprise growth, supporting sustainable employment and building lasting economic legacies across Australia. We are proud to mark this important week, but our commitment extends far beyond it. We are proud to announce that Queensland Rail has awarded DT Infrastructure (DTI) the design and construct contracts to deliver major upgrades at Rockhampton and Bundaberg stations. The station upgrades will significantly enhance accessibility, safety and the passenger experience at these two key regional rail hubs. John Anderson, DTI Chief Executive Officer, said the award highlights our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and accessible transport infrastructure. "We are looking forward to working closely with Queensland Rail and are proud to be delivering these important upgrades that will improve accessibility, create meaningful opportunities for the region and help connect people and communities across the state." Detailed design works are now underway and site works are scheduled to commence in 2027. We were delighted to welcome students from Everything Suarve Inc (Esuarve) to our Gold Coast, Queensland, project for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience.    Esuarve is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating positive change in the lives of at-risk young people through mentoring, support and opportunities for personal development.     The visit featured a guided bus tour of the project site, lunch with the project team and an engaging Q&A session. Students had the opportunity to hear directly from industry professionals about their career journeys, experiences and insights into the construction industry.     The day provided students with valuable exposure to the construction sector, helping them explore future career pathways while building meaningful connections with industry professionals. As scheduled maintenance becomes increasingly complex and costly, David Khoo, Program Manager Asset Management, leads the charge to transform how we manage modern rail networks. By leveraging DT Infrastructure’s Intelligent Asset Platform, David and his team utilise advanced sensor data to enable precise, predictive maintenance.   This innovative approach centralises data onto a single platform, allowing David to establish a unique digital signature for every asset. This shift moves the industry away from traditional ‘fix-on-fail’ models, reducing downtime and operational costs. David continues to deploy this system across our projects, while DTI rail teams draw on our specialist local knowledge to develop innovative, data-led solutions for the industry's most complex problems. Congratulations to Sanjna Nair, Site Engineer, who earned the Next Generation Conference Scholarship to this year’s Heavy Haul Rail Conference for her concept: a three-part AI safety ecosystem for high-risk railway areas.  Sanjna’s framework proposes integrating trackside cameras, thermal technology and smart wearable vests to demonstrate how accessible AI could actively protect both rail infrastructure and human lives. This recognition highlights the calibre of innovation driving DT Infrastructure forward and we are immensely proud of Sanjna. Last week, we were excited to welcome Stevie, our latest work experience student, to one of our projects. Through our partnership with GC House, an incredible charity supporting students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, we learned about Stevie’s dream of becoming an engineer. In an industry where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ representation in engineering remains low, welcoming a driven young starter like Stevie was a privilege. Looking back on his week, Stevie shared, "Everyone was friendly, took the time to explain what they do, made me feel part of the team and made me even more excited about becoming an engineer one day."   “It was a great experience that taught me a lot and I'm really grateful to DT Infrastructure and GC House for giving me the opportunity." This hands-on introduction to our industry takes on even greater meaning as we recognise NAIDOC Week's milestone of "Fifty Years of Deadly". It is a powerful tribute to the Elders, organisers, artists and communities who have built this movement and a reminder that creating pathways for the next generation requires active mentorship, genuine opportunity and industry support. We had a fantastic two days at the Pilbara Summit 2026!  It was a valuable opportunity to engage with local businesses, industry partners and community leaders about the region's project pipeline and creating sustainable local supply chain opportunities. On day one, Michael Rinaudo, Head of Defence, delivered a presentation on behalf of Tom Perkin, GM Strategy. Mike shared an overview of the renewable energy landscape from a contractor’s perspective, providing insights into opportunities to unlock further value and explaining why the Pilbara is best placed to lead this. At the DT Infrastructure stand, our team thoroughly enjoyed meeting delegates and engaging in meaningful conversations. It was a great opportunity to align on what matters most: driving long-term, collaborative growth for the Pilbara region while deepening our local community ties. It was a privilege to partner with the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) and NAWIC QLD to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day with an inspiring industry breakfast.   With over 400 industry colleagues in the room, it was a morning filled with diverse career insights, including an engaging Q&A with Josephine Sukkar AM. A highlight was having our own Madelyn Trappett, Graduate Engineer, share the stage as part of the panel discussion.
