The discussion centred on a blast optimisation project focused on improving cost efficiency and operational resilience at a Pilbara site. Digging into the site's operations, geological context, and the process of fine-tuning the blast design, the paper covers how and why airdecking was implemented, along with the considerations, modelling, and test results that informed the approach. A special thanks to Joshua Fern and Gustavo Sampaio Lopes for taking to the stage and for their work on the project, which continues today. #IOOP2026 #Mining #Drillandblast #MTigroup #Blastbag #airdecking 38 1 Comment Like Comment Share MTi Group 3,178 followers 1mo Report this post Wet hole > Dry hole From wet one moment to totally dry the next, that’s the job of a blasthole liner. It protects your explosives from water and keeps them contained when ground is severely cracked or voided. Though many liners say they do, only Blastshield: ✅Has a high tensile, ripstop woven material giving it incredible strength ✅Made from inert materials resistant to AN and fuel oil meaning it does not degrade over time or exposure ✅Is made with antistatic additives to reduce static electricity build up during installation When reliability matters get the liner that gets the job done- first time and all the time- Get Blastshield! 26 Like Comment Share MTi Group 3,178 followers 1mo Report this post What do you see? An oversize boulder… or a sign of something else? If you answered the latter, you’re probably a step closer to seeing fewer of them. Oversize is often a symptom of poor stemming — stemming that doesn’t provide enough confinement. And without adequate confinement, blast energy isn’t distributed efficiently through the collar zone. Was it too much stemming length? Or the wrong type of stemming. Either way, the result was the same i.e The energy needed to break the rock never made it to the right place. The good news? There are tools and techniques that can dramatically improve energy distribution and fragmentation performance. Cue Blastbags and blasting with airdecks. This approach helped one mine in West Africa reduce oversize and improve blast outcomes significantly. We’re excited to showcase the latest tools and solutions designed to make blasting safer, easier, and more efficient. Since the last show, we’ve gained even deeper insight into the mechanics and performance of the airdecking blasting technique — a method that, among other benefits, has helped operators reduce explosive costs — and we’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned. If you’re attending WAMPEX next week, be sure to stop by for a chat with the team. #WAMPEX #mining #Drillandblast #MTiGroup #EDMAfricanresources 68 1 Comment Like Comment Share MTi Group 3,178 followers 2mo Report this post What’s really going on below the surface? If you’ve ever asked yourself that question and been left scratching your head, MTi’s borehole camera offers a clear answer. It’s a simple, practical tool that lets you see what’s happening inside the hole — from collar to toe. Using a tethered probe mounted on a reel and frame, the system delivers a full 360° view via a 10-inch, anti-glare display that’s readable even in full sunlight. No assumptions. No guesswork. Just visibility where it matters most. #Boreholecamera #Drillandblast #blasting #BlastingQA #voidmanagement #MTiGroup #miningtechnology 23 Like Comment Share MTi Group 3,178 followers 2mo Report this post Hitting a patch of hard rock that brings productivity to a crawl—that’s every operator’s worst nightmare. For one site, this scenario quickly became a recurring fever dream as an expansive, stubborn formation began to take its toll on dig rates and overall cycle times. Fast forward months later, that challenge had been turned on its head—with dig time reduced by 16%. So what changed? And how did this operator overcome hard digging? Discover the approach behind the results in the case study below... https://lnkd.in/gN9d74Tu #Drillandblast #mining #METS #MTiGROUP #Blastbags #gasbags #optimalblastingeverytime #shortfirer #boreholeplugs 13 Like Comment Share MTi Group 3,178 followers 2mo Report this post Another day, another bench to conquer! I got a gig to blast a wedge of rock off a highwall of an opencut hardrock mine. The wedge was a threat to mining activities and traffic on the ramp to the pit floor below, so it had to go. The Geotech crew had it drilled, ready to load and even carried down the stemming in bags for me. All that was left to do was carry down the plugs of presplit and detonating cord, cut to length, load, tie up, and reel out the signal tube Lead In Line, 500m down to the shot. The results were good and after the dust had settled, mining could continue unthreatened. From out in the boondocks of the Tanami Desert to rappelling high walls to knock down high altitude rocks, I love it all. By reducing material movement in the hole with the tight seal it forms, the Mitiplug ensures that product does not slump or fall out before the detonator is set off. Where it helps: - Charge containment –holds explosive material in place and prevents stemming mixing - Safety- by improving confinement, air blast and fly rock risk is reduced #Drillandblast #mining #METS #miningindustry #MTiGROUP #mitiplugs #optimalblastingeverytime #shortfirer #stemmingplugs #mechanicalplugs #blastingaccessories #miningaccessories #miningtools #undergroundmining 32 1 Comment Like Comment Share Join now to see what you are missing Find people you know at MTi Group Browse recommended jobs for you View all updates, news, and articles Join now Affiliated pages MTi Group - North America Mining Stanton, Kentucky Similar pages PT.
