Renewable energy tomorrow. The Rest team recently visited Kalfresh Vegetables in Queensland's Scenic Rim to see firsthand how one of our portfolio companies is helping shape a more sustainable future for agriculture and energy. Kalfresh grow, pack and sell fresh vegetables to some of Australia’s major retailers and are about to add a new product – renewable energy – to their portfolio. Through our investment with Wollemi Capital, Kalfresh is developing what should become Australia's first integrated agricultural and bioenergy precinct, turning farm waste and food production residues (like the corn husks shown in the picture below) into renewable energy, renewable natural gas and fertiliser. For our 2 million+ members, it's an example of how our responsible investment approach seeks opportunities that can deliver strong long-term returns while supporting initiatives with the potential to contribute to real-world decarbonisation.
