Constant use of Bluetooth connectivity can drain your device's battery. Bluetooth connectivity is only used when this app is in the foreground and up to a few seconds after being backgrounded to safely disconnect from peripherals being interrogated, unless Background Scanning is enabled in the app and the Live Activity is running.  more

Good and could be great app

This app does the most thorough scan for devices that Bluetooth detects. I have used many other tools in the past and none were able to detect much; however, this app was initially able to detect 30 devices, showing the signal strength of each and even revealing Core Errors and more. I plan to purchase the pro version to see those features but I haven’t yet because first I want to learn about what the definitions are and to find out if I’m seeing what I should expect to see on my scan. I feel that this is where the app falls short. I also know it wouldn’t be too difficult to provide the user with some definitions and screen examples…even some resource links would be useful. Besides that, great app!

Found my lost sensor

I have over 30 Govee temperature sensors. I name them by the location I put them in. Well I lost track of one sensor because it got switched with another sensor when I was changing the batteries. Then that lost sensor started showing a humidity level of 75%. So I needed to find that sensors location. I removed the batteries from all the Govee devices I could and then launched BT Inspector. It did not take long to figure out which BT device was my lost sensor. I started walking around watching the BT signal increase and decrease. Walking towards the stronger signal location I got within 6 feet of the sensor. At that point I remembered where I had placed a sensor. I was able to find the high humidity and deal with it. Using the BT Inspector I have been able to get within 6 feet of a device. At that point the signal stops changing enough to narrow the device location down any further.

I really liked this application. It almost dumps data from nearby devices. Everything the description states it does - it really does but here are the application short comings….while the description states what’s the application can do and its features there is not full guide of the various data types that are being inspected. Next, is the map while you can zoom in/out - the level doesn’t stay and immediately zooms back out - pretty annoying especially when I’m in a small building or amongst a crowded area. No other gripes from but George - seriously: I can help you write a guide - If you’d like me to show you some of my work I can e mail you.

I am trying to find a lost AirTag that i lost two years ago. Apples find my app won’t cut it so I spent 4 dollars for the pro version of this. Just saying it isn’t worth it, but it could be if you add these things: a bar that fills up from left to right to show signal strength, this way you could check how close you are and it’s easy to understand. Also add a distance meter, and also on map, allow you to click the dots to see what device it is. Also an option to Pin devices would be nice. This would help tremendously in my search for a long lost AirTag, and it could definitely help in so many other ways. I just hope this gets added because I just paid $4 for a map that barely even works.

• Characteristic descriptors. Descriptor information is now displayed alongside characteristic values if descriptors are present in the received information about a device.
• Detect when not ready to receive messages. Sometimes devices are not ready to receive the next message as they're still processing the previous one. Bluetooth Inspector is now able to detect this situation and let you know that your next message might be missed by the device. You're still welcome to try sending a message though!
• Status of attempted writes. Alongside the history of received values, Bluetooth Inspector now keeps a list of attempted writes with the status of each. Observe the queue messages and watch as they are processed by the recipient device.
• Support writes without response. Some characteristics don't provide the ability to acknowledge receipt of your sent messages. Bluetooth Inspector now supports the ability to send messages without acknowledgement, which may also increase the amount of bytes that can be sent in the message.
• Copy all the things from all the places. Device information, as originally received from the device or as decoded by Bluetooth Inspector. All the IDs and UUIDs for peripherals, services and characteristics. Values and the history of them. Context menus everywhere.
